Session topic: The Therapeutic Use of Nature in Design
The therapeutic use of nature in design involves integrating natural elements into the built environment to promote health and wellness. Beyond the aesthetic appeal of greening our living and working space, the presentation will delve into the key design principles based on evidence supporting the therapeutic benefits of nature, including reduced stress, improved mood, and enhanced cognitive function. Examples of works at various settings, from residential spaces, healthcare facilities to other urban spaces, will showcase the transformative power of nature when intentionally integrated into our built environment.

Principal & Founder – Nikki Hunt’s Design Intervention
Session topic: Designing For Life: Sustainability Redefined
Join award-winning interior designer Nikki Hunt as she redefines the concept of sustainability in a thought-provoking talk, “Sustainability Redefined: Design for Life.” Nikki argues that true sustainability must prioritize optimizing human health—both physical and mental—over traditional environmental metrics. Explore how common design choices, from energy-efficient LEDs to VOC-laden materials, may be silently contributing to chronic diseases and mental health challenges. This talk will challenge you to reconsider the role of design in fostering well-being, sparking a crucial conversation about our responsibility to create spaces that are not only eco-friendly but also truly supportive of human health.

Gwen Tan
Founder – Studio iF
Session topic: Sustainability Through Different Lenses
In “Sustainability Through Different Lenses”, Gwen Tan, co-Founder of Studio iF, shares more about the different ways sustainability is explored through her spectrum projects spanning almost two decades. She will also share how future proofing for evolving needs, if done properly, can make a building/ space stay relevant much longer and hence reduce its carbon footprint. Given the range of the design interventions possible, Gwen shows that everyone can play a part towards building a more sustainable future.
