Speaker – Ed Ng

Interior Designer and Co Founder

One of Hong Kong’s foremost creative designers, Ed Ng is one-half of multi-disciplinary international design studio AB Concept alongside co-founder Terence Ngan.

Born and raised with both Asian and Western influences in Hong Kong, Ed’s formative years shaped his design principles and aesthetic, enabling him to understand different cultures and fuse them together in his design approach. Through his work with AB Concept, Ed has spent the last two decades creating innovative spaces for the most prestigious clients in luxury hospitality, wellness. and F&B, including the Four Seasons, Rosewood, Mandarin Oriental, and Ritz Carlton.

Just as people, companies and industries have contributed to increase global warming and its resulting environmental impact, the same people, companies and industries can lead the change to a circular economy and a more harmonious coexistence with mother nature.
 

Pamela Phua, Product Management Director, Decorative Paints, Southeast Asia and South Asia (SESA), AkzoNobel has spent 18 years in R&D and product management at AkzoNobel, launching innovative products such as Dulux Weathershield/PowerFlexx. She also contributed to the development of various Singapore Standards for paint, such as SS 345, SS 579, and many others. Based in Singapore, she covers the SEA, South Asia, and APAC regions, with the key markets for decorative paints being India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. 

Pamela is also the President and Technical Chairperson for the Singapore Paint Industry Association and an industry consultant to organisations such as Enterprise Singapore, Singapore Green Label, Housing and Development Board, among others. She is actively involved in projects to create inspiring living spaces for local communities and to promote green architecture trends, which really speaks to her passion for sustainability.

Topic: A Poetic Journey

I will be sharing my journey as a storyteller of space, developing design with the sense of timelessness with reflection of lifestyle, aesthetics, sustainability, and social interaction. Crafting solutions and shaping the built environment by understanding the site, locale, embrace a sense of culture and creating positive emotion and human experience.

IDr Lai Siew Hong is the Co-founder and Chief Executive Designer of award-winning interior design firm Blu Water. Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur since 2010, the design studio focuses on hospitality archetypes and the design of hotels, resorts and F&B establishments around the region. As one of the most revered interior design studio in Southeast Asia, Blu Water has also been recognised by AHEAD Awards Asia and IDA Design Awards. As the creative backbone of Blu Water, Lai believes in creating innovative spaces and solutions while crafting a meaningful narrative in each design brief. 

Lai graduated from the State University of New York with an Associate Degree in Applied Science Interior Design. His passion for nurturing young emerging talent translates into his deep involvement in mentorship and regional conferences over the years. Locally, he served as an Adjunct Lecturer at Taylor’s University Malaysia and internationally, he mentored graduate students at China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, China. He is also the man behind the impeccably organised MIID REKA Conference over the years, and currently the AYDA International Awards Advisory Panel and Judge for 2023. He is now serving as the Master Coach for Interior Architecture and Design Programme at The One Academy.

Peter Tay of Peter Tay Studio is the celebrity interior designer to stars, such as Zhang Ziyi, Wang Leehom, Stephanie Sun and Zoe Tay. His portfolio comprises high-profiled residential and commercial projects.

Best known for his sleek yet luxurious approach to design, Peter Tay’s designs are contemporary and timeless, and at the same time, they encapsulate the pure essence of space that delicately accentuates the lifestyles of his clientele. He also works on the art of tailoring timeless beauty through materials and textures, which serves to guide design invention and outlines the way in which forms transform over time to envelope life. Often, his designs bridge the perceptive space between interior and exterior spaces, and explore the duality and interchangeability between architecture and interiors.

Zhi Jie is an experienced Lecturer with a demonstrated history of working in design education. Zhi Jie is the Course Manager at Singapore Polytechnic, Diploma in Interior Design. He leads a dynamic team to inspire, nurture and grow future spatial designers.

Skilled in Urban Design, Urban Planning, Architecture, Visual Merchandising, Graphic Design, Curriculum Development and Art. He is a strong education professional trained in Singapore and the U.K.
